Wadi Hanifa Flood Modelling, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
Client: Arriyadh Development Agency

Site area, 450,000 hectares

Wadi Hanifah is a 120 km long, 4500 km2 watershed that passes through the capital city of Riyadh in Saudi Arabia.

Following the Wadi Hanifa Comprehensive Development Plan, an environmental, recreational and tourism resource has been created. We advised the Arriyadh Development Authority and the focus of the masterplan was to restore the Wadi’s natural beauty, spoilt by decades of unfettered dumping and development, as well as harnessing and rehabilitating its water. The wadi had suffered from seasonal flooding on average once every 5 to 10 years and the works have improved the flood performance, channel conveyance, water quality remediation and scour protection.
